MGCAANA Host and Travel Club for Students

• Objective

  • Facilitate acclimation of former Mahamaya Girls College students and friends of Mahamayans on arrival to the United States

  • Provide safe accommodation to students (undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral), during short school breaks and longer vacations. Most students will be single undergraduate students.

• What is expected of the host

  • Provide free room and board for short breaks and holidays

  • Provide free transportation to and from the student’s school, if the school is within a 150 mile radius of the host’s home

  • Introduce the student to host’s resident state, city given time and interest in both parties

  • Treat the student as a part of the family/household for the duration of the stay

• What is expected of the student/guest

  • Treat the host’s home and belongings with respect

  • Follow the host household rules and procedures as other family members do and become a part of that household for the duration of the stay

  • Find own on transportation to the host’s home if the student (his/her school) is beyond a 150 mile radius from the host home

• How to become a host

  • Please send an email to mahamaya_alumnae@yahoo.com indicating the following

    • What breaks, time periods of the year you are willing to host a student

    • Address and phone number

    • Brief description of yourself and your family including any connection to Mahamaya Girl’s College, if any

    • If any particular type of student is preferable (optional)

    • Any limitations restrictions you may have (optional)

    • Questions (optional)

• How to become a guest

  • Please send an email to mahamaya_alumnae@yahoo.com  indicating the following

    • What breaks, time periods you will need a home

    • Your school and year (i.e. Freshman, sophomore, graduate student, post doctoral fellow)

    • Address and phone number

    • Brief description of yourself and your interests

    • Any limitations you may have (e.g. vegetarian)

• We will do our best to match guests with hosts using the following criteria

  • Time period

  • Location (both student and host)

  • Interests
